I’m an artist and designer Living & working in the heart of New York City.

‍My journey as an artist wasn’t a straight line. While I grew up in a small town in upstate New York, my dream was to eventually move to NYC. So after college and spending a few years teaching, I made it happen. I went back to school and studied Textile Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

A major influence in my art was working as a print stylist for a fabric manufacturer for many years — selecting designs, creating colorways, meeting with artists, technicians, and manufacturers, and traveling to the mills to strike-off new designs. As a stylist, I won two Tommy Awards from the American Printed Fabrics Council.

Like all artists, I have a day job. Mine is Communications Coordinator for the NYC Department of Records and Information Services, where I create promotional materials, educational aids, and write a little social media copy to accompany their amazing vintage materials.

But making beautiful art is still my passion. My most recent challenge is learning how to make vector-based surface designs. When I went to art school, everything was analog, but it’s a different digital world today. Now, I’m constantly creating new designs that are available on Spoonflower. I’ve also created several distinctive collections of stencils, carried by StencilGirl.

I love all art, and have worked in watercolor, weaving, sculpture, pastel portraits, silkscreen printmaking, greeting card design, and more. Art journaling is a passion of mine, especially designing and constructing my own handmade journals, incorporating recycled materials whenever possible, and experimenting with stamps, stencils, fonts, colors, and vintage images.

In addition, I teach mixed media classes in and around New York City, and enjoy working with students of all ages and skill levels.

When I’m not drawing, painting, or designing, you’ll find me at my local Y swimming laps and enjoying water exercise classes. And, of course, walking my grand dog Pippa.
